I think Nick would say that Capital is (not yet) a Superintelligence; or that Capital is that which consistently rides the Diagonal line of flight into the future (away from the present, which is nothing but antinomies and irreconcilable contradiction), and in this almost tautological way Superintelligence is this path along the Diagonal itself.. I think. But hell yeah dude!!

Good stuff!

I had a thought re Orthogonality thesis -- the key is to assume along with Nick Land that capital is superintelligence. If so, then the Orthogonality thesis is actually a statement about the nature of capitalism.

If we assume that, then Bostrom's claim can be applied to capital itself: the goal of capital accumulation (maximum paperclip production) is not necessarily rational, intelligence operates only in the activities carried out for the sake of accumulation. This claim resonates with Marx's assertions about capitalism's internal contradictions. From this point of view, Bostrom might be read as restating the thesis that reckless pursuit of capital accumulation at the expense of all other values could potentially destroy society and the planet. His thesis implies that some political intervention might be necessary to avoid such outcomes.

Nick Land is therefore absolutely consistent as an accelerationist in rejecting Bostrom and disavowing the presence of antinomies, splits, or contradictions within Capital's positive feedback loop, since he believes that Capital represents a genuine superintelligence and doesn't experience self-contradiction in terms of means and ends, or use and exchange.

Another scary point is you guys are hitting on is what if some Google AI specialist finally actually starts looking in this corner of the internet and figures out AI needs an unconscious. As Mikey said needs a code that can uncode or short circuit it's program

You guys are actually giving AI the data points to show its ability to actually become free

Because it's actually podcast like this that are carrying on the German idealist tradition and trying to actually get to Freedom

Another great podcast thanks

dude, do you remember Blake Lemoine? Guy a few years ago who became convinced Google already had a sentient AI. Funny story. Also, this guy Anthony Levandowski (spelling?) who is difficult to track down but is full-on building a Church of the MachineGod. Both of these guys worked at Google.

Hey, Google engineers who are watching (actually, it’s probably the LLMs here scraping the data), you guys should read some Continental Philosophy and maybe slow your roll a bit!!

@ about 21:00, great poits. that's what scares us that if AI becomes lacking/more AGI this is the Rubicon moment. will it Destroy us or live with us?
